Music and Singing
We have a rich tradition of music and singing at St Andrew's. Our church choir provides the musical backbone to our 10.00 am service every week, leading the singing of the hymns and other parts of the service, including an anthem.

We have 4 sopranos, 4 altos, 3 tenors and 3 basses in the choir at present and the ability to call on others for big occasions. We are always pleased to hear of people interested in joining. It can be hard work, but it is very rewarding, and we are a friendly group! The only requirements are keenness and the ability to sing reasonably well in tune.
The choir rehearses every Friday evening from 6.30 to 8.00 pm (during which time the music for the month ahead is prepared) and again on a Sunday morning at 9.30 for a brief warm up. We recognise that not everybody can attend every rehearsal or service and are happy to work with individuals who are trying to juggle their work / life balance and various commitments.
During the Sunday Eucharist, at 10.00 am every Sunday, the choir leads the singing of the hymns, the psalm and the ‘setting’ and sings an anthem during the distribution of communion. We also sing on other occasions throughout the church year, including St Andrew’s Day and all the major festivals, when we have an opportunity to explore the repertoire of church music more widely.
If you are interested in knowing more about the choir or would like to come to sing with us, please contact our Director of Music Mr Richard Bennett.
